This Mid-Century Rambler is getting a major remodel done and they asked me to install some quartz flagstone in the entryway. This look is more of-the-period than the 6" square tiles that were there before.

I don't normally get asked to do interior flooring, but this came up. Part of the reason we went with this particular type of stone is that there was only about one inch of depth to work with under the door and this happened to be in stock with pieces around a 1/2" thick.

The stone is still wet in this photo, so it will be considerably lighter in color when dry (you can get a sense of how much lighter by looking at the dry areas in the upper right). The grout is a non-cementatious mixture with a light-gray color which will also be a bit lighter when dry.

This was a very nice batch of stone I chose from and the colors and textures are pleasingly consistent (River Gray Quartzite from Marenakos Rock Center). Something this detailed takes about 4 days to complete, along with demo-ing the old tile.

It went off without a hitch!
