Engineered Gravel Parking Strip

We rebuilt this gravel parking strip in North Seattle using #GeoCell reinforcement.

In a neighborhood with all gravel driveways and parking strips, the customer was tired of it looking sloppy and uneven. We dug down 6”, spread landscape fabric for soil separation, then stretched out the webbing and staked it down. Then clear 5/8” crushed rock was used to fill the cells. A 2” layer of decorative gravel was used on top: Terra Cotta 3/4” clear crushed - a rusty limestone from Eastern Washington. Then a plate compacting machine was used to tighten it up.

Afterward I wanted to repair the edge of the very thin asphalt along the street. A solid line of cement was put in for a more consistent line that will better withstand the weight of traffic. The extra care we put into this will keep it looking nice for decades.
